Inspired by JRPGs, gnosticism, and neo-Platonic philosophy, The Story of Us is a fantasy campaign based around the nature of reality, and what happens when somebody tries to take over the narrative. I have run this campaign in Fabula Ultima previously, and could do so using Daggerheart, Pathfinder, or really practically any game, since it’s a fairly easy game to transfer from one setting to another.
Concept: At its simplest, a story can be told in two words: “Noun verbed.” All reality is made up of nouns that verb – their stories quickly become more complicated, but ultimately these stories are what make reality. There is no way for existence to be without stories – exist is a verb, after all, and there must be a thing that exists in order for the concept to make any sense. The stories can be simple or elaborate, happy or sad, grand or mundane, but all the same – we tell our stories by living them. But what happens if somebody tries to change the story? Tries to rewrite the collective narrative of existence for their own purpose?
And what do you do if the story they want to tell… is better than the one you’re living?
Systems: Ready to run in Fabula Ultima, quick to run in Daggerheart, can be run in virtually any system.
